The clans have to have structure, so they have roles. The roles in the clans are...
Cub
Apprentice
Knight
Sheriff
Leader
Healer
Here is what each does for their clan, and how they fit in.
The cub is just basically a kitten. Every cat had to be a cub before anything else... When they have reached a certain age, the leader will name him/her an apprentice.
An apprentice is like a beginner or trainee. They are trained by the knights to fight and hunt. When they have finished their training, the leader of the clan will hold a ceremony to make him/her a knight.
A knight is like the fighters, or the 'army'. They protect the clan and ward off enemies from another clan or just outside forces. They also hunt and bring the food back to the camp for the others to enjoy. Then eat for themselves. This is what the cats live up to be. Unless they become the sheriff or the leader, or healer.
The sheriff is second in command after the leader. They sleep in the knights den like all the other knights, and hunt like all of them too. But is the leader is not present or busy doing something else, the sheriff can take over.
The leader is, well, the leader of the clan. They tell the clan what to do and when to do it. When the leader dies, the sheriff takes their place, and then chooses another sheriff to be there when they decease...
The healer is the cat that heals the clan. They take on the responsibility of healing and taking care of sick or injured clan members. Not only this, but healers also have to interpenetrate signs from SkyClan, their ancestors.
The healer has a special apprentice, called the healer apprentice. The healer apprentice follows in the paw steps of the healer and learns herbs from them. when the healer dies, the healer apprentice takes his or her place. But before a healers apprentice is a healers apprentice, they, or the healer of the clan, must get a sign from SkyClan telling them they approve.
